Why We Built This Site

The Problem We Saw

When a loved one is seriously ill, families often have only days — sometimes hours — to make big decisions about care. One of those decisions is choosing a hospice provider.

Most families do not know where to start. They may not realize that the federal government publishes quality scores for every Medicare-certified hospice in the country. Or that some hospices send nurses every week while others are harder to reach. These differences matter enormously.

We built HospiceNearMe.org because every family deserves to see this information clearly, in plain language, without having to dig through government spreadsheets.

What We Do

We take data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and organize it into a searchable directory. We add plain-language explanations of what the quality scores mean. We write guides to help families understand their options.

We do not accept payment from hospice providers. No provider can pay to appear on this site or to rank higher. Every listing earns its place by being Medicare-certified.

Our Data

All provider data comes from the CMS Provider Data Catalog, updated each time CMS releases new data. The current dataset is from February 2026, with quality scores covering April 2024 through March 2025.

Who We Are

We are a small team that believes public health data should be easy for ordinary people to use — not just researchers and administrators. We are not affiliated with any hospice company, insurance company, or the government.
